Ruth Underwood
I
am a trained feature writer, scriptwriter and editor. I have written for
a variety of publications, including The
Big Issue, The Herald,
and Traveller. I am a versatile
writer, though my specific area of interest is travel
writing. From February to October 2006 I was Editor of
www.bloc-online.com, which was subsequently short-listed
for the Guardian
Student Media Awards 2006. During my time as Editor, I wrote and edited
copy, as well as coordinating the launch of podcasts
on the site. As a scriptwriter, I have written a 60-minute sample episode
of a TV drama series of my own creation, entitled Excess. For

2005 I lived in Spain , where I worked as an English teacher, a tour guide
and freelance writer for In Madrid,
a monthly cultural guide to life in the capital. I have an MA in Professional
Writing from University College Falmouth, and an MA (Hons) in English
Literature from Edinburgh University .
